Pay & Conditions:

  • Emergency Department 4*10 hour shifts per week.
  • Wards 0800-1630 Monday to Friday
    + one on-call period per week.
  • Holidays 5 weeks/year.
  • Study leave one week per year (not including interns).
  • Professional Development Allowance $1,500/year for specialist trainees.

Working In Australia

Basic administrative requirements to allow you to work at the Gold Coast Hospital are:

  • Contact with Gold Coast Hospital to establish sponsorship approval once your credentials are confirmed.
  • Applicants must have English competency (IELTS with a score greater than 7 in all areas). Applicants must also have worked in a clinical capacity in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands or Denmark.
  • Fulfil medical registration requirements as defined in the Competant Authority Pathway set out by the Queensland Medical Board and the Australian Medical Council (AMC). These requirements are current as of 1st July 2008.
  • House Officers may be required to undertake general rotations including a rural placement (usually 10 weeks). Preferences are recorded for House Officers.
  • Registrar positions are generally recognised for specialty training.
